Munich (dpa) – Art lovers will be able to view works by British conceptual artist Damien Hirst in Munich at the Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art (MUCA) as of October 26.
Some of Hirst’s best-known works will be on display in the show “The Weight of Things,” the museum said on Tuesday.
This is the first solo show by the conceptual artist in Germany. His individual works have been on display elsewhere.
The exhibition also includes provocative sculptures, such as animal bodies preserved in formaldehyde, that brought attention to the 58-year-old artist.
Large-format paintings from the “Cherry Blossoms” series will also be on display in Munich.
More than 40 works over 40 years of the artist’s career are part of the show, the organizers said.
In recent years, Hirst has taken a step back from his art. He was a significant representative of the Young British Artists group and had been focused on painting.
