The public prosecutor’s office in Berlin has brought charges against a 20-year-old climate activist who was involved in a glue stunt at Berlin’s Gemäldegalerie public painting gallery this summer.
The woman allegedly used superglue to attach herself and another activist to the historic wooden frame of the painting “Rest on the Flight into Egypt” by Lucas Cranach on August 25.
Damage to the frame came to €2,385 ($2,510), the authorities said on Friday. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the charges before the juvenile court judge in Berlin are about malicious damage to property.
Across Europe, similar attacks on works of art by climate activists have made headlines repeatedly in recent months. ©dpa
