MNAC ”Art Acquisitions Exhibition – 2020 Session” arrives at Craiova Art Museum after its first stop last year at Kunsthalle Bega Timisoara.
Craiova Art Museum (MAC) in partnership with the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Romania (MNAC), opened on June 29 the exhibition “PULSE 20 – New entries in the MNAC Collection“. Emilian Ștefârță (MAC Manager) and Călin Dan (MNAC Director) opened the exhibition.
After the first public presentation of the MNAC Acquisitions Session 2020 (“After 12 years. Artistic production in Romania in 180 works“), MNAC began the itinerary entitled “PULSE 20”. In 2021 stopped at Kunsthalle Bega, and now arrives at Craiova Art Museum 2022.
As part of this extensive partnership with other art institutions in Romania, Craiova Art Museum presents a more focused look at the ”Acquisitions 2020”. Through the artworks of 38 Romanian artists and groups of contemporary art the exhibition records multiple generations and different concerns in contemporary art of the last five decades in Romania.
“Much can be said about this corpus of artworks, about the almost miraculous way in which it manages to illustrate 50 years of local artistic production, about the fascinating diversity of personalities brought together by the remarkable effort of a jury of specialists with a deep knowledge of recent history of arts in Romania.
The acquisitions session organized by MNAC in 2020, with the generous support of the Ministry of Culture, was not just a cultural policy mechanism. Through the synergy between an enthusiastic art scene (which waited 12 years for this moment of recognition) and the competence of the specialists in the museum and around it, a remarkable act of collective curation was born. ” (Călin Dan, Director of MNAC)
